The Sun is a source of vast amounts of free energy. Everyone knows that. The trick is to convert this energy into either electrical power or mechanical motion or a mixture of both. This flow of energy stops for several hours each day as the earth rotates upon it's axis and places portions of the planet in darkness. Cloud cover and rain, vegetation, man made structures and geography can all reduce energy flow. So although it is free, there are certain challenges to using solar energy as a reliable and consistent source of power. Those challenges have been solved and we show you how to do it. Welcome to EarthSolarDesign.com. Help save the Planet and save your money too!
What is the cost advantage? Lets start with cost. There is a huge problem today.
My electrical power bill is measured in kilowatt hours. The indicated charge per kilowatt hour is approximately $0.05. However the utility company then adds several charges to this base amount including delivery and taxes and I pay for the bill with after tax dollars. What this all means is that my actual cost per kilowatt hour is really about $0.20 or four times the quoted rate. Each area will be slightly different however I urge you to be very cautious about using the lower rate in your calculations. Spend some time thinking about it to arrive at an actual cost to you per kilowatt hour. Knowing this number will help you gauge actual savings from solar energy.
The cost of solar panels varies with the size but the range is between $8 and $12 or so per watt of capacity if you purchase them pre made. This is quite expensive and represents the main reason why solar electrical power is only now being implemented. Remember although this is the price per watt this is a measurement of the capacity not the output cost of the panel. The panel will continue to crank out power month after month year after year so that high acquisition cost is really spread over a long period of time making the actual cost of the electricity produced essentially free. Unfortunately, the break even point is usually over a dozen years and likely over 16 years. This is why you don't see solar panels on every rooftop today. Everyone loves the idea of solar panels producing energy the problem is that it is nowhere near cost effective. However if cost is not a factor then why not? Some people and organizations have a lot of excess cash and it is more important for them to appear to be environmentally sensitive than it is to be fiscally responsible. But if you see your tax dollars being used for this start to worry. Somebody is wasting your money! Thankfully there is a way to lower your acquisition costs so that solar energy makes sense!
So many people like the idea of solar electrical power - the fact that it is free, non polluting and environmentally perfect that they want to see implementations and they want to support the idea so they are championing and buying solar panels. This has allowed the retailers and manufacturers of solar panels to make billions of dollars selling you a product that is just not cost effective in nearly every application. At some point in the future when the cost of solar power panels is reduced very significantly then it would all make sense but right now - no way. The good news is that there is a way!
Our Approach
We still think solar power is a great idea. We also think that there should be a gradual implementation of solar power but we also think that the most cost effective applications are those where you do most of the work yourself. Here is our logic. From an economic perspective it does not make sense to buy ready made solar panels or manufactured wind generators. But a lot of things that we do such as driving a 7 passenger SUV to work with one person in it do not make sense. A 100 watt panel will not replace much of the power you pay for out of the grid. But that 100 watt panel will continue to produce electricity at no additional cost over time. And the grid will cost you for every watt you use. I have a 15 watt panel on my truck battery and it keeps it topped up. I could use my battery charger and take power from the grid and costs would be minimal but the tiny panel is producing free power. So that's our approach. We won't pretend it's cost effective but we maintain it reduces costs. And you can use that money you otherwise would have sent to the utility company for other things. And the key is to built the systems yourself because then solar power IS cost effective and makes much more sense.
DIY Do it yourself Solar Power Solutions
We have located excellent plans for building your own solar power for as low as $200 or less! All the instructions are there. This is an excellent way to avoid all the retail overheads and hoopla and just do it yourself. Check it out at Earth 4 Energy.
Here is another excellent source of information from Home Made Energy In this example a 52 year old man shows how he got off the grid and started selling power to the utility company instead of paying them for it they paid him! How cool would that be! If he did it so can you!
Here is a home made power plant you can make for solar power and wind. Excellent information showing you how to do it for less than $200 check out Home Made Power Plant.
Finally Alan Hopkins an expert in the field presents Free Energy Options and shows you how you can produce power for under $200 with DIY components with an amazing payback time of approximately two months!
There is really no excuse for being held ransom by the utility company. With a weekend of effort you can build a system that will save you money for years to come. Any when you think of just the taxes you will save it's something to not only to think about but it's something to do. In fact you may find that so many people will be interested in doing what you have done that you can provide those services on a part time basis and increase your annual income for things like vacations and items you may not be able to afford now. Solar energy is a rapidly growing industry and it is still possible to get in on the ground floor. What better way of doing that then building your own solar power system!
Sources
One of the best sources for solar panels is e-bay as you set the price and there is an excellent variety. You can also try making your own solar panels if you wish and it's not rocket science either. We suggest this is by far the best way to obtain a cost effective solar system. Check out the listings available right now and if you see something you like here is a great way to start collecting free electrical energy and releasing yourself from the complete control the utility company has over you and your wallet! Once you pay the power company that money is gone forever but once you invest it in your own solar power system that money continues to generate free power for you for many years. Every kilowatt you generate is one less you pay for. It makes sense!

SAVE THE PLANET! save your money too!
We hear this a lot these days. We all want to save the planet for ourselves and our future generations. But where to start? Switching to solar and converting some of all of our consumption to this free clean power is one way of helping to save the planet one household at a time. And when one person does it another will follow and soon we will have millions of homes requiring less energy from the grid with less pollution going into the atmosphere.
This website is our way of helping to save the planet. We strongly believe that solar energy from wind and electrical solar panels are the wave of the future and we can start today. The energy from the sun is free for all of us if we make just a small amount of effort to harness it.
Thanks for visiting and good luck with your solar power systems!
